Collapse of under-construction bridges or overbridges in Bihar has now become a common thing. Two months back, the bridge built on the Budhi Gandak river in Begusarai broke down and got submerged in the water. Now the girder of an under-construction overbridge in Patna has collapsed. In the accident, two laborers working near the overbridge came under its grip. The condition of both is serious. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Both were identified as Ramsagar and Roop as Om.
This incident happened on Monday afternoon. According to the workers working on the overbridge, the shuttering of the guard was opened 10 days ago. In the afternoon all the laborers got down from the overbridge to have lunch. But Ramsagar and Om were still working there. After about 15 minutes the two got down and started going for lunch. Meanwhile, suddenly the guard fell down after being overwhelmed. Both got buried.
Villagers said – use of poor quality goods
Here, hearing the loud sound of falling sharp guard, all the laborers reached there. And both were taken out and admitted to the hospital. Here, after the accident, the villagers reached the spot and started creating ruckus. They say that poor quality material is being used in the construction of the overbridge. No care is being taken of the quality. The fall of the girder as soon as the shuttering is opened is proof of this.
NHAI is making 1.5 KM overbridge
Actually, this road is a part of Kanhauli to Ramnagar Patna Ring Road. The road was built a few years back by the Bihar government. Now this road is being converted into six lane. That’s why NHAI is making about 1.5 KM overbridge here. Here, NHAI officials are refusing to say anything about the accident.
The bridge over the Budhi Gandak river was broken in the middle
About two and a half months ago, the bridge over the Budhi Gandak river in Begusarai broke down. The work of this bridge was going on for 9 years. When this bridge broke down and got immersed in the river, people started raising questions. Due to the collapse of this bridge, more than 20,000 people of the area were affected. In particular, the people of this area had to face a lot of difficulties.
The super structure of the bridge was immersed in the dirty river
About 11 months ago, the super structure of the bridge being constructed on the river Ganges between Bhagalpur-Khagaria got submerged in the river. It was fortunate that there was no loss of life or property. The nearly 100 feet long super structure of the bridge had collapsed due to the strong storm and rain that came in the night. The construction work of the bridge being built at a cost of Rs 1710.77 crore is going on since 2015.
